Granada massacre of Jews

December 30, 1066

A mob incited by a poem accusing the Jewish vizier Joseph ibn Naghrela of trying to rule Granada lynched him and attacked the Jewish quarter, killing perhaps four thousand. It was the largest medieval massacre of Jews in al-Andalus and an early warning that the convivencia of Muslim Spain was showing strain.
