UN Charter signed in San Francisco

In the War Memorial Opera House, delegates from fifty nations signed a charter for a new organization designed to prevent the kind of war that had just killed sixty million people. It had a Security Council with five great-power vetoes and a General Assembly for the rest. It would be stronger than the League and never quite strong enough.
